Ucs driver download for bernina machines
They had me call NOrton, and we uninstalled my Norton , and eliminated that as a source of conflict. The next thing was to go to Microsoft, and I ended up getting bumped up to Microsoft research team.
THere were quite a few phone sessions, we did a repair install of XP, and I began doing windows updates, which by the way I do one at a time, manually-always. My instinct was that some corruption in a windows update caused theembroidery software issue. The Research Team said to get an external hard drive and start transferring data, so we could do a clean reinstall of XP.
My computer does have Media Direct on it, so I figured if it was urgent, I should do it. It said Bad Pool Header, had a bunch of error numbers which I wrote down. It was doing a memory dump and as I was freaking, after I wrote down the numbers, I shut it down.
Then I turned it back on, my desktop came up briefly, and it was the same thing all over. By this time I was on hold for Dell tech support, and it finished the memory dump and then rebooted itself, same thing, normal desktop briefly, then BSOD, same verbage and numbers. The Dell tech support guy asked me to do a diagnostic scan which had been done a couple times before and all passed except the optical disk He said it did not matter if the optical disk failed, there was no CD in it, that's why it failed the test The test did not tell me to put in a CD, I could have done that??????
He said to write down any error numbers, he would call me the next day. The test took hours, and every facet of the test passed, except the optical disk again. I did not receive a call back so I called in. I got a guy who had me boot up and press F12 to do the diagnostic outside windows? He said he wanted to listen to any alarms or tones, and he wanted me to pay attention to the LED buttons near the screen, above the keyboard. When it got to the optical disk test, it started making lots of obnoxious noise, and the lights started a pattern, which I related to him.
He said the noise was 7 beeps- that meant my motherboard was bad. Is this possible to diagnose in 10 minutes like this? I had spent hours on the phone with perhaps 2 dozen other people the past 5 or 6 weeks.
Anyway, I have inhome warantee service, so he ordered the motherboard, told me it would be repaired on Friday. The tech never showed up Friday and due to a whole list of irrational events on the part of the service company, my husband and I decided we did not trust them to replace the motherboard. All this was related to the Dell folks, including copying emails to the Board of Directors. With the delay, I had a chance to read up on motherboards, because I'm trying to understand the issues here.
Over the weekend, I decided to boot up my computer and see what happened. IT booted up. It acted normal. No BSOD. So, I have been continuing my Windows updates, one at a time. Then I reboot, then I open my Bernina program to see if the issue has recurred. It is working perfectly.
So, I fixed the dfl file, and went to Add Remove and removed that one update. Then rebooted, opened Bernina again, and the original problem did not recurr. Does this mean my assumption that a windows update caused the problem is correct?
Basically, what happened to cause the BSOD and why has it not happened the past 3 days? The battery is still out. But other than that, it makes no sense to me. The only other issue that may be pertinent is when I go to Administrative Tools in Control Panel, to the event viewer, in Application and System, there are some events logged which are red x circle errors, or yellow triangle! There are dozens and dozens of them over the past couple weeks. But is this nuts? Should I be glad that I did not have a motherboard replaced unnecessarily though it was free to me , or should I anticipate that one day it will go berserk again?
I entertained that it could be some malware or something? Well, I will appreciate any inights, advice, ideas- you can beat me with a stick if it will help fix the problem.
